Frequently Asked Questions
Let’s swap confusion for total clarity.
Booking Your Transport
You’ll need to provide the year, make, and model of the vehicle(s) that will be transported. We will also need the address where your vehicle will be picked up and delivered, as well as the name and phone numbers of the contact person at each location.
Make sure to schedule at least two weeks in advance for us to meet your requirements for shipment.
Need it sooner? You can always give our team a call and we can discuss any available options at that time.
Yes! The zip code and city are enough for us to provide a quote until you know the exact pick-up or delivery location.
Open car transport is more economical and is the most common transport method. This type of auto transport is frequently seen on highways where carriers are hauling vehicles on two decks that are exposed. It is a safe and secure way of transporting a vehicle.
Enclosed car transport is when a vehicle is shipped in a trailer that has a roof and walls and is not exposed to weather elements. Enclosed transport is often used for classic, luxury, exotic, and sports cars.
You can transport a suitcase or a box in your car that is stored in your trunk as long as the total weight does not exceed 100 pounds. But remember that personal belongings are not covered by insurance if they are reported missing or damaged.
Pricing
Heads up: the bill of lading is the most important document during the transport process. A bill of lading is a legal document that is used by auto shipping companies to write down the condition of the vehicle or any pre-existing damage at the time of pickup and delivery. It must be signed at pickup and delivery by someone over the age of 18. If you need to file an insurance claim, you will also need the bill of lading.
Scheduling
Yes, someone over the age of 18 must be present. They’ll need to be able to provide the keys to the driver and sign the bill of lading at the time of pickup and delivery.
The vehicle can be picked up and delivered directly to your door if possible. The driver’s goal will always be to get a vehicle as close to pick-up and delivery as legally and safely as they can.
However, in some cases, cities may have restrictions regarding large trucks entering residential areas. Car carrier trucks are huge and need a lot of room to maneuver and turn around. So if access to your home is restricted by narrow streets, speed bumps, tight turns, or low-hanging trees, the driver will ask you to meet at the nearest location (such as a large parking lot or shopping center).
Preparing To Ship Your Car
- Wash your vehicle: Make sure your car has been cleaned inside and outside. This helps the driver to better access the vehicle for any pre-existing damage such as dents, scratches, etc. Any pre-existing damages will be documented on the bill of lading.
- Have appropriate fuel levels: Make sure there is a quarter tank of gas in the car at the time of pickup. A full tank adds weight to your vehicle and the car carrier. Electric vehicles must have between 45-65% charged battery.
- Have keys or key fobs: You must provide the driver with a set of keys at the time of pickup.
- Remove toll tags: Remove all toll tags from your vehicle to avoid charges. We are not responsible for any charges and you will be responsible for resolving any charges incurred during transportation of your vehicle.
